Our Meteorologist: Lucia Partai

Our illustrious meteorologist, Lucia Partai from European Weather Service, has agreed to be the weather forecaster of our expedition. This is a very difficult and responsible duty, because the weather is the most important objective factor that our small team has to count with.

Lucia Partai - our meteorologistIn order to conquer the summit we will need a few wind-free and moisture-free days. It is also important for us to know the barometric height of the summit, that is to say how high the summit will  "feel" as a consequence of meteoric alterations on the day given. (This can fluctuate between 8500 and 9200 meters.) Lucia will forecast the shoving off of the so-called jet stream winds and the arrival of the wet season (the monsoon).

We are grateful for her work!

The Embassador of the United States of America - Mr. George H. Walker - welcomed our expedition in his letter of today.

In his letter personally addressed to Joby and David, Mr. Walker highlighted the value of making a close tie appreciating our "adventure" another example of the cooperation between our two countries. Furthermore, he pointed out how important of a role can a well-communicated sport accomplishment play in the development of the value system of a younger generation.

Quoting Mr. Walker: "We at the U.S. Embassy whish you every success in his attempt and look forward to learning your progress from dispatches and photos you will send during your ascent. The glimpses will provide of an ongoing climb are very important because they will give Hungarian and American young people a practical example of connections our two countries continue to make in every field of endeavor. Your success will demonstrate the extraordinary results we can achieve by working together."

Joby Ogwyn has arrived to Hungary

Joby Ogwyn – David’s climbing partner this year, on Mount Everest – has arrived to Budapest yesterday evening. Joby is a specialist of high altitude speed climbing. He has set the world record of scaling an “8000er” in 2004 by reaching the summit of 8201 meters high Cho Oyu in 8 hours.

Joby and David will be climbing together this year on the Tibetan side of Everest. He is also going to be present at our press conference on the 27th before the expedition leaves. (We will post details about the press conference later.)
