David at high camp on Gasherbrum II (2003)A short summary of the mountaineering activities of David Klein

David was born in 1975 and introduced to climbing at the age of thirteen. One year later he passed the basic mountaineering exam. Until 1998 he polished his skills with unbroken enthusiasm on Hungarian crags, in the US, the High Tatras (several attempts to traverse the complete main ridge of the High Tatras in winter) and in the Alps, climbing in summer and winter, in various terrains and styles. He began his high altitude carrier in 1998.

Solo reconnaissance trip to the base of Broad Peak(8047 m), the 2000 expedition was based on the findings of this trip, Pakistan, Karakorom

Broad Peak (8047 m), expedition leader, climbs up to app. 7800 m, (turns back on summit day due to frostbite) , Pakistan, Karakorom

2001 February

McKinley (Denali, 6198 m) Winter expedition, (extreme weather conditions force the team to turn back from the camp below the summit), USA, Alaska

2001 Autumn

Leader of the Hungarian Everest - Lhotse Expedition (2001), Eastern (Khangsung Face) side, the team puts up a new rout variant to the treacherous East Face which is a grand achievement even by international standards; due to unstable snow conditions and deteriorating weather, the team turns back.

2002

McKinley (Denali, 6198 m) Winter expedition, (extreme weather conditions force the team to turn back) , USA, Alaska

2003

Gasherbrum II (8035 m), logistical leader and summit climber, also attempts Gasherbrum I (8068 m), few days after summiting GII he attempts GI, turns back a few hundred meters from the summit due to strong winds; both summits: Pakistan, Karakorom

2004

Cho Oyu (8201 m), invited independent climber of an international expedition, Tibet, Himalayas

2005 Spring

Everest, (8850 m), reaches 8500 meters when a violent storm forces him to turn back, Nepal, Himalaya

2006 Spring

Everest (8850 m), reaches 8450 meters, when the wind and cold forces him to turn back, Tibet, Himalaya

2007 Spring

Mount Everest (8850 m), together with László Várkonyi reached 8600 meters, when considering the relative lateness of the hour – decided to turn back, Tibet, Himalaya

2008 Spring

Mount Everest (8850 m), together with László Várkonyi reached 7300 meters before deciding to turn back, Nepal, Himalaya

2010 Spring

Mount Everest (8850 m), together with László Várkonyi. During the expedition the team had the team had an avalanche accident, and László Várkonyi lost his life.
